What if some unidentified aerial phenomena don't resemble conventional craft at all, but instead appear to have a translucent, jellyfish-like form?

Often referred to as "Jellyfish UAP," these reports describe unusual aerial objects with rounded upper sections and long, trailing appendages that give them an organic appearance. Unlike the more familiar disc, sphere, or triangular UAP reports, these objects are frequently described as drifting or moving in ways that some witnesses compare to marine life.

The Jellyfish Profile

Witnesses commonly describe a dome-shaped or bell-like upper section with multiple elongated structures extending beneath it. Depending on the observation conditions, the objects have been reported as translucent, dark, or softly luminous, sometimes appearing white, blue, or teal in color.

Estimated sizes vary considerably, ranging from only a few meters across to several dozen meters. Because most observations lack reliable distance measurements, these size estimates remain highly uncertain.

Observation: Jellyfish UAP are notable for their organic appearance and reported drifting motion, making them visually distinct from many other commonly reported UAP shapes.

Notable Sightings

One of the most widely discussed cases involved infrared footage recorded near Aguadilla, Puerto Rico, by U.S. Customs and Border Protection. The object displayed an unusual shape and movement, leading some observers to describe it as jellyfish-like. The footage has been examined extensively by both researchers and skeptics, yet no universal explanation has been reached.

Similar reports have emerged from various parts of the world. In some cases, observers describe objects that appear to pulse, change shape slightly, drift for extended periods, or accelerate in unexpected ways. Because many of these observations rely on limited video or eyewitness testimony, interpreting their true nature remains challenging.

Context: Some reported sightings have been recorded using infrared, night-vision, or other specialized imaging systems. While these sensors provide additional observational data, they do not by themselves determine the identity or origin of the observed object.

Reported Characteristics

Across multiple reports, witnesses have described a number of recurring characteristics, including:

Slow drifting or floating movement.
Long, trailing appendages that appear flexible or tentacle-like.
The ability to hover or maintain position despite changing wind conditions.
Occasional rapid acceleration or abrupt disappearance from view.
In some cases, reported movement near or above bodies of water.

These reported characteristics contribute to the comparison with jellyfish, although there is currently no evidence that the objects are biological organisms.

Possible Explanations

Several explanations have been proposed, ranging from atmospheric phenomena and unusual balloons to imaging artifacts, unidentified conventional objects, or genuinely unexplained aerial phenomena. Some researchers have also explored more speculative possibilities, including advanced technology or unknown biological entities, but none of these ideas has been confirmed by publicly available evidence.

Important: Although jellyfish-shaped UAP have attracted significant public attention, no official investigation has concluded that these objects represent non-human technology or living airborne organisms. Their identity remains unresolved based on the available evidence.
